The 5 W's with Laura, Katie and Sharon of Coffee Shop One14

Have you heard about One14 Coffee Co? It's the newest addition to the local coffee scene and is already gaining popularity among coffee enthusiasts. I've had the pleasure of getting a little sneak peek and asking the new owners the 5 W's to learn more about their vision.

1. WHO?

The faces behind One14 are Laura Chapman, Katie Hurly and Sharon Vaughan. "Laura and I already have a rental company together, Ellie Wylde Design Co, and through that company we met Sharon," tells Katie. Another face you will see in the coffee shop is Heather Jefferys, owner of Handful. She will be the in-house baker and provide fresh baked goods for the customers.

2. WHAT?

What can we expect from One14? Laura explains: "We want to be an eco-friendly, carbon-footprint-conscious coffee shop. The majority of our products are locally sourced. From the coffee of Kelowna's The Local Chemist to the juices of Lass Chance in Keremeos."

The baked goods will be a combination of savory snacks and sweets, available in limited quantities. From the grab-and-go fridge, you can get fresh vegan and gluten-free salad bowls from Stillfood Bistro and snacks from Gratify.

Sharon is especially excited about the soft-serve ice cream machine. "The ice cream will be available year-round. We like to have fun with the toppings. Like cookie crumbles from today's cookies."

3. WHERE?

One14 is located in the historic Cannery Trade Centre. As soon as you step inside, you'll be greeted with a vibrant and unique atmosphere that is sure to impress. The bright pink walls, art-deco wall decorations, and pink tiles on the counter combine to give the space a fun and retro '60s Miami' vibe. The initial focus will be on grab-and-go, with about 10 seats in the hallway. In the future, there will be a spacious seating area as well.

4. WHY?

"You can call it a passion project for the Cannery Building" tells Laura. "There is so much potential here. We think a coffee shop will be a great addition for new and regular visitors."

Katie adds: "My kid dances here on Saturdays. I realized it would be great to have the opportunity to grab a coffee in the building and to give the parents somewhere to relax. We want One14 to be a welcoming escape. Bringing some Florida vibes inside".

5. WHEN?

One14 is open 7 days a week, from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. Don't miss out on this hidden gem! Stop by and experience it for yourself at 1475 Fairview Road and give them a follow on Instagram: one14coffeeco
